Knowing Michael

The first time I met Michael was at my daughter's wedding. I remember him laughing a lot, a laugh that was big, booming and infectious. I believe it was the first time that Michael was introduced, formally, to the family. I have a video of the wedding, where I see Michael and my late husband Paul at the front of the church. I laughed when I saw Michael and Paul - who had just met -well, for lack of a better word, they seemed to be organizing and orchestrating the event. Whenever we were up North visiting our daughter, Melissa, Michael would burst into the room, never quietly, and ask Paul "when he wanted another ass-kicking at cribbage". I miss having a brother-in-law. I miss times that were missed, while we tried to figure each other out. I know how much he loved Bobbie, and the cabin, and Aaron. I will miss my brother-in-law for a very long time, an all too brief time that I had to know him.
